V.A. Rockin' Blues (This music could seriously damage your shoe leather !!!) 1952-1963, Compiled by 6T's Soul Searcher

This music could seriously damage your shoe leather !!

In this collection there are so many founding artists of the R&B scene missing. I chose my favorite R&B songs, which mostly belong to the New Orleans sound. Songs by artists like,Fats Domino,Smiley Lewis,Professor Longhair,Buster Brown and many others.Danceable music with an irresistible rhythm (at least for me) and as I don't remember who said: "if you don't dance listening to this music it means you're dead".
James 'Sugar Boy' Crawford
The R&B originated in the 1940's in the United States, primarily as a term used by record companies to describe recordings marketed predominantly to African American audiences. The "Rhythm & Blues" term was created to replace the designation "race music," which until then was the standard catch-all phrase used in reference to most music made by Black people at the time. After the "race music" term was deemed offensive,Billboard began using the Rhythm & Blues name that Wexler,a journalist created.  By the 40s, R&B had solidified its place as a distinct genre within the music industry. One of the defining characteristics of R&B was its fusion of different musical styles. R&B drew heavily from Jazz, Blues, and Gospel music, and incorporated elements of swing and boogie-woogie. This blending of styles created a unique sound that was both familiar and new to audiences. Many R&B songs borrowed heavily from the Blues, with artists using slow, soulful melodies.Jazz also had an impact on R&B, with many artists incorporating improvisation and complex rhythms into their music.
The use of brass instruments, such as trumpets and saxophones, was a common feature in both Blues and Jazz music, and this influence can also be heard in R&B. The use of these instruments added a new dimension to R&B music, creating a sound that was both soulful and energetic. This fusion of different musical styles helped to shape the sound of R&B.
Smiley Lewis
S: If you have listened to the previous collection "The Windrush Generation" you will hear how American R&B had influenced the Jamaican music of the late 50s and very early 60s. Songs like "Lost in a dream" by Buster Brown and "I'm twisted " by Cookie and the Cupcakes are clearly precursors of Jamaican Ska
